KCG Yahtzee - User Guide
Starting the Game
The game starts automatically when you launch the application. The status label will prompt you to Click Roll Dice to begin.
Taking Your Turn
- Click the
Roll Dice button to make your first roll.
- The five dice will appear in the middle of the window. The "Rolls Left" counter will decrease.
- To keep a die for the next roll, check the
Hold box directly below it. The die's border will turn green to indicate it is being held.
- Click the
Roll Again button to re-roll only the dice that are not held.
- You can roll a total of three times. After the second roll, you can change which dice are held before your final roll.
- The
Hold checkboxes are only enabled after the first roll of your turn.
Scoring Your Roll
- After you have finished rolling (either one, two, or three times), the "Roll" button will be disabled, and your scorecard on the left ("Your Score") will become active.
- The status label will prompt you to "Select an available category to score."
- Simply click on the name of the category in the list where you wish to place your score.
- The score will be calculated and automatically entered. You cannot select a category that has already been used.
- Once you select a category, your turn is over, and the computer will begin its turn.
The Computer's Turn
When it is the computer's turn, the Roll Dice button is disabled. The computer will automatically roll, decide which dice to hold, and roll again. Its actions will be described in the status label. After its rolls, the computer will choose the best available category to score in. After a brief pause, the turn will return to you.
Ending and Restarting
The game ends when all categories on both scorecards are filled. The status label will announce the winner and the final scores. The button will change to New Game. Click it to start over.
